We have an outstanding opening for a Community Midwife to join our dedicated team. Currently, we have vacancies at Heartlands, Good Hope, and Solihull Hospitals. Our community team offers top-notch midwifery care to a diverse range of women and their families.

Community midwife teams adopt a named midwife model across children’s centers, GP clinics, and home settings. Each team includes a Team Leader, Community Midwives, Maternity Support Workers, and Community Administrators, all overseen by the Community Matron. Newly appointed candidates will receive personalized orientations and adequate support upon their appointment.

To support women who choose to give birth at the Birth Centre or at home, our midwives operate under diverse shift patterns, including on-call rotations and coverage during weekends and bank holidays.

Main Responsibilities, Tasks, and Abilities:

Demonstrate expertise in holistic and innovative practice-based analysis, planning, administration, and evaluation of midwifery care. Develop women-centered, evidence-based care plans and provide guidance, oversight, and instruction to support staff, students, and subordinate personnel on clinical and non-clinical procedures and methods. Serve as a practicum evaluator and mentor for students when needed.

Proficiently utilize clinical equipment, obtaining necessary training as required. Effectively collaborate and communicate with the broader team, demonstrating strong task prioritization skills. Oversee the delivery of comprehensive care and support for women interested in home delivery.

Participate in Clinical Governance by reporting significant incidents and proactively engaging in service development. Contribute to parent education initiatives within hospital and community settings. Maintain professional conduct in line with the NMC’s ‘Code of Professional Conduct,’ ensuring all duties adhere to these standards.

Offer recommendations for health prevention and promotion, uphold clinical records according to trust regulations and the NMC’s “Guidelines on Record Keeping,” and accommodate women choosing to give birth at the Birth Centre or home by working various shift schedules, including on-call rotas, weekends, and bank holidays.
